# Sofuoglu: I will be ready for Sunday

Puccetti Kawasaki rider Kenan Sofuoglu says ‘he will be ready’ for Sunday’s third round of the 2017 World Supersport season despite a lack of track time today.

The Turkish rider makes his comeback this weekend having missed the opening two rounds recovering from surgery on a hand injury. Miraculously, Sofuoglo comes into the Aragon round only 30 points down thanks to a chaotic start to the season.

Sofuoglu wasted no time this morning in making up for lost time, hitting the track immediately and very quickly rising to the top of the timesheets.

As the session wore on Sofuoglu began to slip down the order, but a 1m55.676s kept him sixth fastest and just under a second off the pace, which is not bad going considering he still isn’t fully recovered.

“I’m very happy, because the first two races I watched at home. Before coming here I didn’t know if I could ride or not, because my injury is really complicated; my thumb has dislocated many times,” the five-times world champion said.

“The recovery time took a long time, and I still can’t say it has recovered well. But I am very happy today to be back on the bike.

“Step by step, I’m getting stronger. Of course, I need a little bit of time to get fully my feeling back, but I’m very happy to be back on my bike.”

Rain in the afternoon saw Sofuoglo, sensibly, remain in his garage. This meant he lost an hour of vital track time but, with 30 minutes of running tomorrow, he is not feeling too concerned by this.

The Turkish rider admits that he likely won’t be in the most competitive of forms on Saturday, but is adamant he will be fully prepared for Sunday’s 16-lap encounter.

“Aragon is a track that is very good for me and my bike. Right now we are position six. I missed the afternoon, which I needed, but it’s no problem. Tomorrow we have 15 minutes practice in morning and Superpole.

“Tomorrow I will need a little bit of time, but Sunday I will be ready.”
