Mercedes launches W08 at Silverstone

Reigning champions Mercedes is the latest team to have unveiled its 2017 challenger ahead of the new season.

Three-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton put the first miles on the W08 at a windy and wet Silverstone.

After the shock retirement of 2016 F1 champion Nico Rosberg in December, Valtteri Bottas was drafted in as a replacement for the German. After spending four successful seasons with Williams, Bottas now has the toughest task of all to beat Hamilton in the same machinery.

Mercedes has maintained a traditional silver, black and green livery for the team’s title defence.

Bottas is expected to drive the W08 later today at Silverstone.

Pre-season testing ahead of the new season begins on February 27 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The Silver Arrows has yet to announce their schedule for testing.
