# Di Giannantonio injured in test session

Team Del Conca Gresini Moto3 rider Fabio Di Giannantonio has suffered a fracture to his collarbone following a crash at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit during a private pre-season test today.

The Italian rider, who enters his second season in the world championship with Fausto Gresini’s squad as one of the favourites for the title, was in Valencia with a handful of the Moto2 and Moto3 field putting the first miles on their new machines this year.

Looking to tally up the laps today after Wednesday’s running was severely curtailed by high winds, Di Giannantonio was nearing the end of his programme when he was flicked from his Honda at Turn 4. The 18-year-old Italian was taken to the local hospital where scans revealed he had fractured his right collarbone. Further checks will tell if he will have to undergo surgery or not.

“Yesterday, in the first day of testing, we made just a few laps because of the strong wind and already this morning the second day of testing had not started in the best way, since I had immediately a slight crash,” he said.

“However, later we continued the test making a good job; in the final stages of the day we were doing some last set-up tests and probably because of cold tyres I made a high side, crashing and breaking my right collarbone. It’s a shame, but my morale remains high; now I just need to get back in shape as soon as possible!”

Luckily for the Italian, the first official three-day test of the year in Jerez doesn’t kick off until next month, giving him plenty of time to recover.
