# WorldSBK 2017 calendar finalised, Jerez round added

World Superbike Championship organisers Dorna Sports has finalised the race calendar for the 2017 season, with the penultimate round of the year confirmed to be taking place in Jerez.

Originally pencilled in as ‘to be confirmed’ amid ongoing negotiations between Dorna and the Spanish venue, the final calendar sees Jerez retain the second-to-last to spot on the schedule for the second successive year. The Jerez round has also been pushed back one week, the event now running from October 20-22.

The 2017 WorldSBK season will consist of 13 rounds, the big addition being the return to Portugal and the Portimao circuit for the first time since 2015. The championship once again begins in Australia on February 24-26, with the Thai round taking place just two weeks later.

The first European stop on the calendar – and the opening round of the year for the Superstock 1000 and World Supersport 300 Championships – is at MotorLand Aragon in Spain from March 31 – April 2, whilst the British round at Donington Park takes up its now traditional slot at the end of May. Laguna Seca brings down the curtain on the first half of the season on July 7-9, with hostilities resuming six weeks later in Germany from August 18
