Sauber has quashed rumours that Pascal Wehrlein is set to miss pre-season testing due to a neck injury sustained at the Race Of Champions last month in Miami.
Reports had suggested that Wehrlein could be in line to miss at least one week of testing but the Swiss team has today, commented on the situation on Twitter;
Twitter: 1/2 Current rumors about Pascal Wehrlein in the media: The medical examinations are still ongoing. (@SauberF1Team)
Twitter: 2/2 Therefore, the reports are pure speculations. We will provide information in due time. #F1 @PWehrlein (@SauberF1Team)
These medical examinations were required after Wehrlein suffered a nasty collision with Felipe Massa, as his car rolled and landed in the barriers after the two had crossed the line in a head-to-head race.
The 22-year-old was ruled out of the rest of the event on medical grounds and his recovery process is well underway, with the start of testing just three weeks away.
In the unlikely event that Wehrlein is unable to compete in testing, drivers such as Antonio Giovinazzi, Charles Leclerc and even former driver Esteban Gutierrez could be potential candidates to aid their pre-season preparation.
