# Rabat out of Sepang test following crash

Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Honda rider Tito Rabat will not take part in the final day of the Sepang test tomorrow after he suffered a fracture to his right hand and several toes in crash today.

The 2014 Moto2 world champion had been carrying out some evaluation work on the new front and rear tyres Michelin had brought with them to the test, as well as some set-up changes on the new RC213V chassis given to the team last November.

Rabat crashed heavily at the right-hander of Turn 11 in the final hour of the rain-affected session, fracturing his right hand and two of his toes as well as a lacerating his left knee. After being taken to the medical centre for checks, he was transferred to the local hospital for further medical assessment.

He’ll fly home to Barcelona this evening where he will undergo surgery and begin the recovery process later in the week. It remains unclear if he will attend the second pre-season test at Phillip Island in Australia from February 15-17.

“This is not the start to testing we were looking for, as Tito will not be able to ride tomorrow after his big crash at Turn 11 today. Once these injuries have been fully assessed he will return to Europe for further treatment and rehabilitation,” said team boss Michael Bartholemy.
