# Updated MotoGP calendar sees Germany brought forward

The FIM have released the latest draft of the 2017 MotoGP World Championship calendar, with the only change being the moving of the German Grand Prix from the Sachsenring forward by two weeks.

The initial schedule had the German round pencilled in for July 16, but has been brought forward to July 2 to avoid clashing with the Formula 1 British Grand Prix. The new date sees the event back-to-back with the Dutch TT, making it the third European double-header in 2017 alongside the Italian & Catalan Grand Prix and the Austrian & Czech Republic Grand Prix.

The British Grand Prix at Silverstone, set to take place on August 27, is still marked as ‘subject to contract’, though it is highly expected that the Northamptonshire venue will host MotoGP again in 2017. It is also rumoured that, because of ongoing delays with the Circuit of Wales, Dorna Sports could be looking at firming up a longer term deal with the home of British motorsport, which has hosted MotoGP since 2010.

The Malaysian Grand Prix has also yet to be fully confirmed, but the recent signing of a five-year extension with the Sepang Circuit casts very little doubt on the event.

All other dates remain unchanged from the initial provisional schedule.
