# Miller ends season in the points

Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Honda’s Jack Miller ended his second season in the premier class 18th in the standings after taking home a point in this afternoon’s Grand Prix of Valencia.

The Australian rider has endured a pretty tough season with the Belgian outfit in 2016, with bad luck and injury plaguing him throughout. Miller was keen to end the season on a high and felt a decent result was achievable in Valencia.

However, difficulties in the early stages in the race with controlling his RC213V on a full fuel load severely hindered him. Miller opted for the hard front tyre in the hope that it would see him find a bit of form late in the race whilst those around him ran into some grip issues.

But by the time he found some confidence on his motorcycle, the group ahead comprising of the Pramac Ducatis and Stefan Bradl on the Aprilia had built up a decent buffer to the Australian. To make matters worse, he encountered issues with rear grip in the closing laps and also struggled with his quickshifter.

All of this meant that he was confined to 15th in Spain, which is just his sixth points scoring finish of the 2016 season. Disappointed not to be able to sign off with a better result, Miller has now firmly fixed his focus on next season and looks forward to testing some new parts on his Honda in the two-day test on Tuesday and Wednesday.

“This is not the result I wanted but I struggled right from the beginning of the race with a full fuel load, I just couldn’t push as hard as I wanted,” Miller explained.

“The guys ahead got a gap and by the time I got some pace mid-race it was too late. Towards the end I struggled with wheelspin and also the downshifts into turn one. But I’m happy to bring it home in the points and go to the test on Tuesday and try some new parts for next year.”
