Rosberg: Past results in Brazil do not guarantee victory

Nico Rosberg admits his successive victories at the Brazilian Grand Prix do not give him any sort of advantage going into this weekend.

The German knows should he make it a third win at the Interlagos circuit in three years, he will be crowned world champion.

However, Rosberg has played down his track record, insisting past success cannot gift him a 24th career victory at a crucial stage in the drivers’ championship battle.

“I love the track. It’s a great track, feels good and I’ve always gone well here, so I’m looking forward to the weekend also,” he said.

“Great memories also from those two wins, those were very special. But at the same time, this year we all start from zero.

“Those past wins are not going to help me get the win this weekend. We all start from the same place and I just need to do a good job this weekend and that’s it.”

The championship runner-up from the past two seasons is also wary that other drivers will not give him an easy time on track just because he’s fighting for the world championship.

“Of course, they’re not going to take it easy just because one guy’s fighting for the championship,” he added.

“Their competitors like everybody else and that’s completely normal for all us drivers to approach it in that way.”
