Home to some of the most iconic names in Formula One history, being a racing driver in Brazil has always come with pressure to be the next star from the racing-mad country.
That pressure is felt more when the Brazilian Grand Prix comes around in Sao Paulo. Their home race and the site of some of the most dramatic twists in championships past.
Felipe Massa has had his fair share of races at Interlagos, soaked up his fair share of pressure and delivered to his home crowd. The Brazilian has raced 13 home Grands Prix over in his Formula One career, his 14th and last coming this weekend and has taken two wins as well as standing on the podium five times.
The home crowds have been witness to some of the most memorable and emotional moments of Massa’s career, including his second F1 win and the most crushing moment in the 2008 season finale. Through those highs and lows, they’ve cheered him on and this weekend will be no exception.
