Williams’ Felipe Massa is aiming for a podium finish at this weekend’s Brazilian Grand Prix to end his record at the track on a high.
The race is his 13th and final race in his home country before he retires at the end of the season and is expected to be an emotional one reflecting on his achievement’s in the sport in front of his fans.
Massa said that he would be savouring every lap around the track before the chequered flag drops.
“Interlagos is home. It’s the place that I grew up,” he said.
“It will be emotional racing there for the last time on such an amazing track. I’m looking forward to enjoying every single lap and hopefully, I can manage to finish the race with a good result.

The Brazilian has a good record at the circuit winning the race twice in 2006 and 2008, he has also finished second in 2007 and third twice in 2012 and 2014. He even waved the chequered flag in 2009 while recovering from his qualifying accident earlier in the year at the Hungaroring.
Despite Williams only claiming one in the whole season so far, with Valtteri Bottas in Canada, the Massa says he wants a sixth career podium at the track in 2016.
“I have won twice at Interlagos and have finished on the podium many times over the years and I hope we can get another one. It won’t be easy, but I will do everything I can for my people and for Brazil in my last race at home.”
He has not claimed a podium in his last 26 races, his worst run since between the 2011 European Grand Prix and 2012 Singapore Grand Prix, and needs to outscore McLaren’s Fernando Alonso by two points to retake a position in the top 10 of the Drivers’ championship before the final round in Abu Dhabi. Alonso is currently on 52 points, one more than his former Ferrari teammate.
