# Pedrosa back for season finale in Valencia

Repsol Honda Team’s Dani Pedrosa will make his return from injury at this weekend’s season finale in Valencia, HRC have confirmed.

The Spaniard has been absent from competition since the Japanese Grand Prix after he fractured his right shoulder and fibula in a nasty high-side crash during the second free practice session at Motegi. He was replaced by HRC test rider Hiroshi Aoyama in Japan and Malaysia, and by 2006 MotoGP World Champion Nicky Hayden in Australia.

Pedrosa had set his sights on being fit for the final round of the 2016 campaign in front of his home crowd, and that goal became a highly realistic one after undergoing successful surgery on his injuries just days after his crash. He says the thought of recovering in time to race at home gave him a huge boost during his rehabilitation.

The Honda rider is the most successful rider on the current grid at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit. To date, he has won six times at the Spanish venue, three of those coming in the premier class, and taken to the rostrum a further five times. Though unsure how he’ll fair on his RC213V after a three-race absence, he is nonetheless looking forward to returning to action.

“These past three weeks haven’t been easy because of the pain, especially immediately after the operation, and also because I missed racing at some of my favourite tracks,” he said.

“Anyway, after I started with my rehab, things began getting better day-by-day, and the thought of trying to recover in time for Valencia was a boost that helped during the tougher moments. We’re still not sure about how I’ll feel on the bike, but anyway I’m happy to be able to get back to racing! I love the Valencia track, I have fantastic memories here and I like the idea of getting back to action in front of my fans.”
