# Miller looking forward to home race

Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Honda rider Jack Miller says that he is ‘really looking forward to going home’ to Phillip Island this weekend, the Australian aiming to put the woes of the Japanese Grand Prix behind him.

It was a pretty difficult weekend for Miller last time out at the Twin Ring Motegi, to say the least. It was the Aussie’s first time back on the bike since free practice in Misano, having missed the San Marino and Aragon races with a right hand injury, and he suffered four crashes across the weekend, one of which coming on lap seven of the race.

Thankfully, he escaped all of his tumbles unhurt and heads to the Australian Grand Prix fully fit for the first time since the German Grand Prix back in July. Of course, this weekend marks Miller’s first home race as a premier class Grand Prix winner and he’s looking to honour that fact with a performance ‘to give the Australian crowd something to shout about.’

Miller has a decent record at Phillip Island. He finished fifth in the 2013 Moto3 race, winning it a year later for the Red Bull KTM Ajo team on his way to second in the world championship. His first race in MotoGP last season at home saw him finish in the points in 15th, but he actually displayed some pretty strong pace on the woeful open class Honda RC213V-RS throughout the weekend. After his heroics at a wet Assen in June, the home town hero would likely welcome the rain that is forecast to fall this weekend.

“I am really looking forward to going home and riding in front of my home crowd at Phillip Island. It will feel extra special this year going back as a MotoGP winner and I want to bounce back from what was a pretty difficult weekend in Japan,” the Australian rider said.

“I love Phillip Island and hopefully we can find something in the bike that gives me a bit more confidence to push at the limit. I was fast there last season on the Open class bike and I go there determined to turn around what has been a pretty rough period in the season for me. There is always a bit of extra pressure when you race at home but it is a cool feeling to know so many fans have come to watch you put on a show. It is pressure I thrive on and hopefully I can give the Australian crowd something to shout about.”
