# Rossi takes pole despite physical woes

Valentino Rossi has taken pole at Twin Ring Motegi despite not feeling 100%.

The Italian, who will start from pole for the third time this season, will be looking to use pole to his advantage, especially due to the fact he’s not feeling that great.

Rossi was able to finish ahead of championship rival Marquez, who’s quick lap time had to be aborted due to an incident ahead of him, The Spaniard looked quick all weekend, and will be disappointed to not get the better of Valentino.

However, Valentino admitted he was delighted with pole position, and hopes he can get the victory in tomorrow’s Japanese GP.

“I’m very happy because this year in qualifying I’m strong. We were struggling during this weekend to find the right balance and I’m also not a 100% fit, I’m suffering physically, I’m not feeling fantastic.

In FP4 we improved the balance of the bike a lot and I did a very good lap and great braking in turn 11 and that was good. Starting from pole is always important and now we wait for tomorrow.”
