# Lowes: I felt quite good all day on the bike

Pata Yamaha’s Alex Lowes says that he is feeling ‘quite good’ on his YZF-R1 at the Jerez circuit after two strong free practice sessions for the British rider on Friday.

Lowes started the day off well, finishing the first hour-long session fifth fastest and just three tenths of a second from top spot. In the afternoon, the team made steady progress with his bike and this allowed him to continually up his pace.

The Briton spent some time in FP2 evaluating race set-up, and is happy with his performance on long runs, though admits that he is still seeking some slight improvements ahead for tomorrow.

In the closing stages of second practice, Lowes hit the Spanish track with a fresh set of slicks to climb up the order. The Yamaha rider guided his R1 to a 1m41.804 to go third quickest and get to within a tenth of a second of session leader Tom Sykes.

With just a few tweaks still to make, particularly to the bike’s acceleration, before Superpole and race one tomorrow, Lowes says that he is feeling much more prepared this weekend than he has done for some time.

“The second session was good and in fact I felt quite good all day on the bike. We’ve been making steady progress throughout the sessions and the bike has been improving all the time so yes I feel quite good,” said Lowes.

“We did a longer run in the middle part of FP2 and then used fresh tyres at the end and obviously jumped up with the lap time.

“The pace feels quite good and there are a lot of us with a similar pace so I’m looking to make some improvements in the morning. I’m looking forward to the race and I feel a lot better prepared than at the last few so hopefully it should be a lot of fun. There are a few little areas I want to improve, on acceleration, I’ll work with the guys on improving a little bit to make it easier to race with the others.”
