# Rossi ‘ready’ for the triple-header

Movistar Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi says he is ‘ready for the three races in a row’, as MotoGP begins its annual triple-header trek across Japan, Australia and Malaysia this weekend.

The Italian comes into this weekend off the back of a third-place finish in Aragon three weeks ago after a hard battle with Yamaha teammate Jorge Lorenzo. That result saw the gap between himself and standings leader Marc Marquez grow to 52 points with just 100 left available in 2016.

With the championship fight looking pretty much over, Rossi’s main focus now is to hold onto second place in the championship and extend his 14-point advantage over Lorenzo in Motegi, as well as continue his run of podium finishes stretching back to the British Grand Prix.

The Italian only has two wins to his credit at the Twin Ring Motegi, back in 2001 and 2008, but has stood on the rostrum a further nine times between 2000 and 2015. Rossi admits that, ‘on paper’, he should go well at the Japanese circuit as it is a track well-suited to the YZR-M1, and hopes to deliver the team with yet another victory on home soil.

“I love the three overseas races, these circuits are fantastic,” he said. “On paper we are strong with the Yamaha, so I hope to fight for the victory. I‘m especially happy to go to Japan because it is the home of Yamaha and I will do my best to make it a good Grand Prix. I like the track and the atmosphere. I‘m in good shape and I’m ready for the three races in a row!”
