Star Driver: 2016 Japanese GP

The Suzuka Circuit is one loved by fans and drivers alike. It features tight turns and plenty of opportunities for overtaking, despite the narrowness of the track. Pointing these features out doesn’t really have a lot to do with my star driver this time though as he had a very quiet race, driving away from everyone else at the front. For the first time this season, Nico Rosberg is my star driver!

Rosberg has been driving this entire season in the style of a true champion and he’s been getting stronger and stronger as each race is ticked off the calendar. Yesterday was no exception as he was almost untouchable, crossing the line 4.978 seconds ahead of 19-year-old Max Verstappen in second, and 5.776 seconds ahead of his teammate, Lewis Hamilton, who was in third position.

Rosberg had a very strong weekend as he topped every session throughout the entire event. Hamilton’s bad luck at lights out occurred again though, allowing Rosberg to pull away from his pole spot without his teammate pushing for first position into Turn 1.

I don’t think anyone can deny that Rosberg has put himself in a very strong position for the last four races of the season as he leads the Drivers’ Championship by 33 points. All he has to do is continue driving as he has been all season.

Finally, I’d like to congratulate Nico and Mercedes on their Constructors’ Championship win. Now we just have to wait and see which of their drivers will come out on top!
