# Five bike racers who tried their hand at F1

This week, Movistar Yamaha MotoGP rider Jorge Lorenzo tested the 2014 Mercedes W05 F1 car, the same car that took Lewis Hamilton to that year’s World Drivers’ Championship. The Spaniard found the transition from two to four wheels fairly smooth and apparently set some very competitive lap times.

Lorenzo is a five-time World Champion on two wheels, twice in the 250cc class and three times in the MotoGP World Championship. So its no surprise really to read that he was pretty handy behind the wheel of an F1 car.

Of course, Lorenzo isn’t the only Grand Prix motorcycle racer to strap into a Formula One car. Over the years, several successful riders have either made the step over to the pinnacle of four wheel motorsport or have  at least taken part in test sessions. With that, we here at Read Motorsport decided to compile five noteworthy riders who have tried their hand at Formula One.
