# Arenas to join Dalla Porta at Aspar in 2017

The Aspar Moto3 team have confirmed that Spaniard Albert Arena will join the squad next season, partnering Lorenzo Dalla Porta.

The 2015 Moto3 CEV Repsol Championship runner-up, Arenas has enjoyed a busy year of racing activity. The Spaniard, still contesting CEV with Aspar, made several wild card appearances in the World Championship with the team in the early part of this season.

Arenas made his full-time debut at the Austrian Grand Prix when he was called up to replace Alexis Masbou at the Saxoprint Peugeot team. His best result so far in 2016 has been an 18th place at Jerez.

“I am very happy to get to the World Championship on a permanent basis with this team and I am very happy to have this opportunity,” said Arenas.

“We will be very close and I am very motivated and want to learn the bike and all of the team. I know that Mahindra is doing a good job, and I have more desire than ever to start this new adventure.”

The Spaniard will replace the Gresini-bound Jorge Martin, and will be joined by Lorenzo Dalla Porta, who himself is replacing the Moto2-bound Francesco Bagnaia. The Italian is currently contesting the final races of this season at the Sky Racing VR46 team, where he was brought in at Silverstone to take the place of the recently-sacked Romano Fenati.

Mahindra took their first ever Grand Prix victory this season courtesy of the Aspar team and Bagnaia at Assen, and will be expecting even more from its newest line-up in 2017.
