# Pedrosa happy but still not ‘totally comfortable’ with bike in Aragon

Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa ended the first day of proceedings at MotorLand Aragon as the man to beat after setting the fastest time of the weekend so far in free practice two.

The Spaniard has come into a bit of form lately, changes to the set-up of his RC213V allowing him to extract more from it and achieve much better results from race to race.

Pedrosa spent much of his day trying all but one of the available rear and front tyres Michelin have brought to Aragon, evaluating them for Sunday’s race should it be dry. At present, the Honda rider isn’t yet decided on which of the rear tyres he’ll likely opt for and will work further with them tomorrow to gain a clearer picture of his race option.

The Spaniard looks strong over single-lap runs, ending the day with a best time of 1m48.429s. Interestingly, Pedrosa isn’t completely happy with his bike at the circuit despite putting in a promising performance in FP2. The slightly cooler conditions than normal experienced at Aragon today left him feeling not quite as comfortable on his Honda than he would like.

Pedrosa now has his sights set on qualifying tomorrow and is aiming for a strong result whilst continuing to make steps in the right direction with the set-up of his Honda.

“Obviously, I’m happy with first place even if it was a bit of a strange day. The sun never came out and we didn’t have the higher temperatures we had expected, which meant that I never quite felt totally comfortable,” he explained.

“Anyway, we worked well and improved a lot in the afternoon. We focused on testing tyres, trying to use them all, but we have one left to test. For the rear, for example, both the hard and the medium compounds are good choices, but we still have to see how the track will change. We’re continuing to try to keep the pace and concentration up in every exit, step by step. Our goal for tomorrow is to have a good qualifying session.”
