Hamilton bemoans brake issues after ‘tricky’ weekend

Lewis Hamilton was left frustrated after suffering constant brake issues during the Singapore Grand Prix.

The reigning world champion was left puzzled by overheating brakes that prevented him from challenging for victory.

Despite the struggles, Hamilton managed to nurse his car home for a podium finish holding off Kimi Raikkonen, who passed Hamilton mid-way through the race.

Due to a change in strategy, the Briton managed to undercut the Ferrari and retake the position; on the podium, Hamilton said he was relieved to salvaged something from a difficult weekend.

“This weekend’s just been a bit of a tricky one for me,” Hamilton said.

“I’m so glad I could get back up on the podium and get some points for the team.

“I was struggling with my brakes, which were overheating, so I had to slow down and watch the other guys pull away.

“We were looking at different ways to try and get them back under control. In the end once I did my second stop or third stop, my brakes were under control.”

“It’s a lot different to when I was here last year,” he added.

“All in all, with all that has gone on this year, I’m still in the fight but there’s still a long way to go.

“I’m going to give it everything I’ve got.”
