# Rossi and Lorenzo involved in press conference war of words

Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo have been involved in a war of words after today’s race at Misano.

Lorenzo accused Rossi of riding too aggressively after the Italian attempted an overtake on lap two of the race. Rossi’s move caused Lorenzo to sit up, and the Spaniard was unhappy with Rossi’s conduct.

The Italian crowd also showed their distaste to Lorenzo after the race, booing the rider as he made his way to the podium. Rossi and Lorenzo have a history of rivalry, going back as far as 2009 and 2010 when the pair battled each other for the world championship.

Asked about his opinion on Vale’s move, Lorenzo said “Well if you ask this question maybe it is because the move is aggressive because if not, then you don’t ask this question. You can have different opinions: my opinion was that the overtaking was maybe too aggressive; he didn’t need to make this overtaking, but you know this is his style. Other riders overtake more clean”.

This caused Valentino to laugh, causing Lorenzo to say “It is true, you don’t know?”

Rossi added “No, no, no. Try to look another time at the overtake on the television.”

The pair went back and forth, before Rossi accused Lorenzo of always riding aggressively against him. Lorenzo reacted with “When? This is my opinion, also Race Direction will have another opinion. For me, if I don’t pull up the bike straight I crash. Anyway he didn’t need to do this overtaking, he was better than me today and he would pass me sooner or later, but he didn’t need to be so aggressive on me. He will have another opinion.”

The result saw Rossi close the gap to Marquez by a small amount, with Lorenzo still lying behind Marquez in the standings.
