# Iannone finishes Friday on top at Silverstone

Andrea Iannone topped the timesheets in the final free practice session today at Silverstone.

The Italian showed the Ducati’s prowess around the British circuit by ending the day in front. After his win recently in Austria, he will be looking to get some more solid results.

Behind Iannone was Maverick Vinales, who led the early session in FP1. Vinales has shown pace so far, but will need to finally show this speed in qualifying and the race.

Cal Crutchlow was third, showing pace at his home circuit. Crutchlow has not had many good rides at the Northamptonshire circuit, but his win last time out at Brno will give him a whole load of confidence.

Jorge Lorenzo, Marc Marquez and Valentino Rossi were just behind the top three. The Championship chasing trio cannot be separated by much at this early part of the weekend.

Andrea Dovizioso was seventh, Aleix Espargaro eighth and Dani Pedrosa ended up ninth. Scott Redding rounded out the top ten, with Pol Espargaro finishing just outside.

Alex Lowes improved on his morning time by finishing down in 19th, two seconds behind Iannone’s time.

MotoGP returns tomorrow for FP3, where the riders going into Q1 and Q2 will be decided.
