# Mahindra announce Rosenqvist and Heidfeld for season three

Mahindra Racing today revealed that Swedish superstar Felix Rosenqvist will partner veteran racing driver Nick Heidfeld next season.

The 2015 European Formula Three champion is highly rated by many, and will make his Formula E debut in the season opener in Hong Kong this October.

“I’m thrilled to join Mahindra Racing at this exciting time,” [Rosenqvist](https://fiaformulae.com/en/news/2016/august/rosenqvist-and-heidfeld-confirmed-at-mahindra/) said. “Racing in Formula E will be something genuinely brand new to me. It’s a step into the unknown, but I’ve had a very warm welcome by Mahindra Racing and I have a strong and experienced team-mate in Nick.”

He also identified the main challenges of Formula E and commented on the calendar which is still yet to be fully confirmed:

“I love new challenges and this is going to be a massive one, for sure. I’m fully aware that it will take some time to learn the trade of electric racing, as the technology in Formula E is so different to what I’m accustomed.

“You need to be fast, as always, but you also have to be clever and energy-efficient. I also find the calendar highly exciting. We’ll be racing on street tracks in some incredible locations, and I can’t wait for Hong Kong.”

Nick Heidfeld returns for a third season, and will partner the Swedish racing driver at Mahindra.

“I am excited to continue with Mahindra Racing into season three of Formula E and welcome my new team-mate, Felix,” Heidfeld commented. “The new car is a significant evolution for Mahindra Racing, one which I am very passionate about and I’m confident that we can be competitive.”

This leaves Bruno Senna without a drive in Formula E for next season. In the press release Team Principle Dilbagh Gill thanked the Brazilian for his contribution, and said that he was a “highly-valued member of our team”.

Only Jaguar and NextEv NIO are yet to announce their driver line-ups for the third season of Formula E.
