# 2016 F1 Mid-Season Review: Sauber

2016 has been a year of survival at Sauber as circumstances off the track have greatly impacted results on it.

Deep financial problems left the team merely managing race-by-race with some even doubting if they would complete the season.

Staff were unpaid and the team had to skip both in-season tests following the Spanish and British Grand Prix’s due to their lack of funds.

With barely any development of the car since Australia, it’s unsurprising that the team has also slipped further and further down the order.

Indeed, as Formula One heads into the summer break the Swiss team is arguably the slowest on the grid as they fight with Manor and Renault for the wooden spoon.

Only Rio Haryanto sits behind their drivers Marcus Ericsson and Felipe Nasr in the drivers’ championship, therefore, it’s up to the team to turn it all around in the final nine races of this season.
