Haryanto keeps Manor seat for German GP

Rio Haryanto has secured his seat for the German GP, but the rest of the season is by no means certain for the Indonesian.

Despite having a contract for the entire season, Haryanto only had funding to run until the end of the Hungarian GP.

But it will be Haryanto in the Manor Racing car at Hockenheim, now the money needed to complete the next race has been secured. But he still needs more funds if he wants to keep the seat for the remainder the season.

The Indonesian is currently bottom of the standings, with a career best finish of 15th in Monaco, and has been beaten by his teammate, Pascal Wehrlein, in all but two races so far this season.

Luckily for him, the summer break provides the perfect opportunity for him and his manager, Piers Hunnisett, to secure the money needed.

However, the summer break will also allow Manor to find a replacement should Haryanto not find the funding. The team currently has Alexander Rossi as their reserve driver, but the American’s IndyCar commitments mean he would miss the Belgian, Italian and Singapore GP.

Manor doesn’t currently have another option with development driver Jordan King without a superlicense.
