Williams young driver Alex Lynn has confirmed 2016 will mark his final year in GP2 and in junior formula.
The 22-year-old told Motorsport.com: “Definitely no GP2 next year, this is my final year in junior single-seaters.”
After winning the 2014 GP3 championship, Lynn moved to GP2 with DAMS to partner Pierre Gasly. Lynn took two victories in Spain and Hungary.
He finished with the same amount of points as Gasly who moved to Prema Racing for 2016 while Lynn remained at DAMS for a second season.
2016 has been disastrous for the Brit so far this season while his former teammate Gasly is currently leading the championship with his new team.
“It’s clear the pace isn’t in the car and we aren’t where we were last year, even in the start of this year, clearly we had a good start to the year, we are hoping to fight for the championship, but we are obviously not where we want to be but at the moment.”

“We are just working extremely hard to come back to the pace and that’s our only focus at the moment. We need to keep working on our philosophy, trusting each other and we know we will be back to the front of the grid soon.”
As for 2017, Lynn could possibly replace Felipe Massa at Williams but needs to improve in GP2 if he wants to be driving for the Grove outfit next season.
Another possibility is Formula E with Jaguar who have a technical link up with Williams.
Alternatively, he could follow numerous former GP2 drivers by heading to the WEC or to America and take the Indy Lights/Indy Car route.
