# Crutchlow: “we showed what we’re capable of”

LCR Honda’s Cal Crutchlow believes that he showed what he and the bike are capable of after achieving a second placed finish in today’s German GP at the Sachsenring.

Crutchlow, who started down in thirteenth place, fought hard to fight through. Eventually, he was able to join up with the leading pack of riders. After switching to the slick tyres late on, he was able to overtake Andrea Dovizioso and Scott Redding and take his first podium of the season.

The Briton was also surprised that he was actually able to stay on the bike after picking the hard option tyre before the race had begun.

Speaking to [BT Sport’s Gavin Emmett](https://sport.bt.com/crutchlow-i-nearly-crashed-on-the-warm-up-lap-91364074084631?), he said that “I don’t know how I stayed on for the first 8 laps of the race because obviously we took the hard option front tyre. We used it in the warm-up and I was fast, but I couldn’t get any heat into it in the race and it was really slippy in the race. I nearly crashed on the warm-up lap actually.”

He also believes that he has finally shown what he is truly capable of after a couple of difficult years in the class.

“I think we just showed what we are capable of if we can continue that sort of form. I took some risks but why not? I have nothing to lose.”
