Raikkonen hopes to be ‘back to normal’ in Hungary

Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen has said that he hopes that the performance of the team will be “back to normal” at the next race in Hungary after a difficult British Grand Prix.

The Finnish driver started and finished in fifth place after passing Force India’s Sergio Perez in the latter half of the race. The result means that Raikkonen moves up to third in the Drivers’ Championship, ahead of Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo and teammate Sebastian Vettel.

“In the first part of the race the conditions were quite tricky, the visibility in some places was very poor and I had very low grip on the wet tyres, but I tried to go as fast as I could and I went wide a few times,” Raikkonen said.

“Once we got the medium tyres the situation improved a little but, but it was not easy. Since the beginning of the weekend we had realised that this would have been a difficult weekend.

“Today we tried to do our maximum but we had not enough speed to fight against the guys in front. In these kind of conditions we need more downforce and more grip.”

Raikkonen is sure that the next few races, starting with the Hungarian Grand Prix, will be better for Ferrari after a race where Red Bull appeared faster than them and Vettel suffered gearbox issues on two occasions.

“I’m sure in Hungary it will be much easier for us. Next races it will be a different story. I don’t expect us to have similar issues, obviously you never know, but I expect that we go back to normal.”
