After making it into Q3 once again, Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg says he is hoping for a solid points finish at Silverstone.
Hulkenberg qualified a superb second place at the last race in Austria but dropped rapidly down the field due to rear tyre troubles and eventually retiring from the race.
The German will start eighth after Sebastian Vettel’s five-place grid penalty has been applied due to a gearbox change.
The former Williams and Sauber driver had his fastest lap deleted due to running wide at Copse corner, despite this, Hulkenberg believes the stewards are doing the correct thing by showing a ‘zero tolerance’ policy for when it comes to track limits and track extending.
“It looks like I will be starting from P8 and that’s pretty much where we expected to be,” he said.
“It was very tight with McLaren and Toro Rosso in that session and the margins were very small. Unfortunately my final lap in Q3 was deleted because I ran a little bit wide through Copse corner and couldn’t keep the car inside the track limits. Without that, I would have been a place higher up.”

Hulkenberg is renowned for his wet weather skills and the German admits he wouldn’t mind a few showers in Sunday’s race.
“Looking ahead to the race, there’s talk of showers once again, and to be honest I don’t mind if we get some rain because it would mix things up. Whatever happens, I just want to have a strong race and bring home some good points.”
