Toro Rosso to give Sette Camara F1 test debut in Silvestone

European Formula 3 driver and recently signed Red Bull junior Sergio Sette Camara will make his F1 test debut for Toro Rosso at the Silverstone test next month.

The Brazilian currently sits seventh in the European Formula Three Drivers’ Standings ahead of fellow Red Bull junior and series rookie Niko Kari.

The 18-year-old finished his first season in the series in fourteenth place with two podiums and has already equalled that tally at the halfway stage of his 2016 campaign.

The two-day Silverstone test commences on the Tuesday after the British Grand Prix. Carlos Sainz will pilot the Toro Rosso on the first day with Sette Camara taking over for the second and final day.

“I’m very happy and excited to be testing with Scuderia Toro Rosso. It’s a great opportunity which I’ve worked very hard for.”

Toro Rosso team boss Franz Tost said: “Personally, I find it fascinating to see how these youngsters adapt, not just to the extra power, downforce and braking of a Formula 1 car, but also how they react to the pressure of a day in the F1 spotlight.”

With the future of both Carlos Sainz and Daniil Kvyat under much debate for next season, this test may provide a perfect opportunity for Red Bull to evaluate whether or not the Brazilian would be a suitable candidate for a Toro Rosso drive in 2017 should a seat become available.
