# Dovizioso: “I am very happy with the job we have done”

Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso is delighted that he was able to stick his Ducati Desmosedici on pole but is aware how difficult tomorrow’s race will be.

Dovizioso took pole with his final lap at the end of the session, finishing clearly ahead of fellow Italian Valentino Rossi. This would be Ducati’s first podium since Andrea Iannone took pole at Mugello last year.

Dovizioso was pleased with how the bike performed, and revealed how the team had to make strategy changes mid-session due to the testing conditions at the Dutch circuit.

“I am very happy with the job we have done in these four sessions. This morning in the dry we were quickest, with a good pace, but this afternoon it wasn’t so much a question of pace in the wet, but more of being ready to analyse the situation, which was constantly changing.

“We had opted for a one-run strategy, because it didn’t look like the track was drying out, but after two laps I saw that a few dry lines were forming and, even though it was still raining a bit, I decided to stop to fit a new rear rain tyre, despite the fact that we hadn’t agreed on this with the team.”

However, Dovizioso also admitted that tomorrow will be a difficult race. The Ducati is notorious for having good one lap pace, but being unable to perform for an entire race.

“As always it’s going to be tough to fight with the leading group, but tomorrow we’ll give it a go”.

He might certainly be hoping for rain, with the Ducati famous for performing better in wet conditions than it does in the dry.
