Ricciardo dominates second practice in Monaco

Daniel Ricciardo ended second practice in Monte Carlo six-tenths clear of Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton, highlighting Red Bull’s strong speed around the principality.

For this weekend, Ricciardo will use the upgraded Renault engine which is worth around 0.2-0.4s of lap time depending on the circuit.

Mercedes will be slightly concerned after seeing Ricciardo’s lap but one would expect the Silver Arrows to be the team to beat in qualifying.

Max Verstappen was 0.964s off his teammate’s pace albeit running the older Renault engine.

Toro Rosso will be encouraged with another strong showing in practice, Daniil Kvyat completed 53 laps on his way to fifth in FP2.

Both Ferrari’s struggled with Sebastian Vettel making several mistakes, spinning at Massenet damaging his rear wing. The Scuderia have a lot of work to do going into qualifying on Saturday.

Force India and McLaren look to be fighting each other for a place in Q3 with Haas and Williams just behind them.
