# Andrea Iannone confirmed as Vinales’ replacement at Suzuki

Andrea Iannone has been confirmed as Maverick Vinales’ replacement at the Suzuki Team, signing a two-year deal that we see the Italian ride for the Japanese outfit for 2017 and 2018.

The news was announced just minutes after Vinales had been confirmed as a Yamaha rider next year, replacing Jorge Lorenzo, who is actually the rider taking Iannone’s seat at Ducati!

The Italian’s start to 2016 has been a disappointing one. He started off the year with a fall at Qatar, before taking out teammate Andrea Dovizioso at Argentina. He did manage to gain his only podium of the year so far at Austin but has been unable to repeat the feat yet. He also had a disappointing race last time out, crashing out after 17 laps.

Iannone will now move onto his third bike in MotoGP. He joined the class in 2013 aboard the Pramac Ducati, partnering Ben Spies before he eventually left the class due to injury. Iannone was given a GP14 by Ducati for the 2014 season, with teammate Yonny Hernandez having to settle for an old GP13 model. After Cal Crutchlow left the team last year, Iannone was moved up to the full factory setup. He managed three podiums and one pole position in his first year at the Bologna factory.
