Balance problems continue to hinder Grosjean

Romain Grosjean has highlighted that Haas’ recent balance struggles were not solved prior to a race in Spain where the Frenchman retired due to brake issues.

It was a weekend of woe for Grosjean. Throughout Friday, he complained of poor handling on the circuit’s slower elements, at one point stating that the car was a “disaster at low speed.”

While the team made set-up changes prior to qualifying, reverting back to many of the settings which brought the team success in the opening two rounds of 2016, the balance issues were not fully addressed.

“We really need to find out what’s going on because we reverted back on most of the setup, and we’re still very much struggling with the balance,” Grosjean stated. “Testing this week is going to be very important for us.”

An issue with the front wing early on compromised the Frenchman’s race, before his afternoon was curtailed by a brake problem later on. His wing drama had already seen him fall out of the points scoring positions by this point regardless.

“I had a very good start, a very good first lap,” he said. “I managed to get into the top-10 and was fighting there. Then my front wing decided to go, for some reason. We came back to the pits, fitted a new nose, got some tyres, but then the brakes went.”

Another disappointing afternoon for Grosjean and Haas, who have not scored a point since Grosjean’s miraculous fifth place finish at Bahrain.
