# Moscow ePrix officially cancelled

The Moscow ePrix meant to occur on June 4 has been officially cancelled, as [confirmed](https://fiaformulae.com/en/news/2016/may/formula-e-will-not-race-in-moscow-on-june-4/) by Formula E earlier today.

The reason given as to the cancellation was related to road closures in the centre of the capital. Rumours of the cancellation surfaced on [Motorsport.com](https://www.motorsport.com/formula-e/news/moscow-formula-e-race-set-for-cancellation-692180/) last week, and have unfortunately been confirmed.

Formula E looked at moving the round over to the streets of Monaco, which did see a race in the first season of the championship, but they weren’t able to organise the change in time.

“We explored all possibilities including returning to Monaco, but regrettably couldn’t organise the change of venue on such short notice,” Agag said. “I’d like to express my thanks to HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, Mr. Michel Boeri, and the Automobile Club de Monaco who did their utmost to see Formula E return to the streets of the Principality for season two.”

The cancellation means that the second season of Formula E will have three rounds remaining, with the Berlin ePrix taking place May 21, and the London ePrix double-header finishing it off on July 2 and 3.
