Ericsson satisfied but wants more pace from Sauber

Sauber’s Marcus Ericsson has been left satisfied with his performance at the Russian Grand Prix but is still looking for more performance from his car.

The Swedish driver started the race as the last man on the grid in 22nd place but managed to claim a respectable 14th place finish ahead of Red Bull’s Daniil Kvyat, who he fought with for position during the race.

“It’s been a decent race for me,” Ericsson said. “I had a difficult weekend as I have been struggling a lot to get the tyres to work on this special surface here.

“After the long runs on Friday, we expected the car would behave better on high fuel, which was the case today. For myself, I can be satisfied with my race performance.

“Obviously, the result is not where we want to be. We are struggling with our pace at the moment, but we just need to focus even more to work on our performance.”

With the results of the race, Ericsson has dropped to 19th in the Drivers’ Championship and Sauber and Manor are now the only teams in the Constructors’ Championship yet to score a point in 2016.
