Hamilton given reprimand for Turn 2 incident

Lewis Hamilton has received a reprimand after failing to follow instructions from race control in qualifying.

Hamilton cut Turn 2 after locking up into the corner, this was deemed to be against the instructions set out by the stewards prior to qualifying.

“Car 44 did not keep to the left of the red and white polystyrene block in the run-off area in Turn 2 at 15:08,” said the stewards’ statement.

This is Hamilton’s second reprimand of the season, a third would result in a 10-place grid penalty.

The Briton’s first reprimand came in Bahrain after he reversed in the pitlane.

Hamilton will start the Russian Grand Prix from 10th place after failing to participate in the final part of qualifying due to an engine failure.
