Ericsson: It was a productive day for us

Marcus Ericsson believes it was a productive day for Sauber in free practice at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir.

Sauber have started the season slowly, failing to score points at the season opener in Melbourne. The Swiss-based squad look to be in a battle with Manor and Renault this season.

Ericsson ended FP1 in 16th whilst in second practice he was a lowly 20th, behind Manor Racing’s Pascal Wehrlein.

Despite struggling for pace in Bahrain, Ericsson was content with the work completed by the team but admits there is room for improvement in terms of performance.

“It was a productive day I was able to collect some good mileage. We need that in order to continue our work in understanding the characteristics of the C35.

“There is surely room for improvement in terms of performance, but the main priority today was to put in as many laps as possible. Now we need to analyse everything to see what we can optimize for the rest of the weekend.”
