Tyres selections by each individual Formula One driver have been unveiled by the sport’s official tyre supplier Pirelli.
Unlike in previous seasons where every driver had the exact same number of tyres of each compound per race weekend, individual teams and drivers now have the ability to pick and choose which tyres they wish to use on a race weekend.
For the second race of the 2016 F1 season in Bahrain, Pirelli has allocated the medium, soft and supersoft as the three choices available to the teams.
The notable differences in tyre choices can be highlighted at Mercedes and Ferrari. Both Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg have opted for one set of medium tyres, six sets of softs and six sets of supersofts whilst both Ferrari drivers have chosen three sets of mediums, four sets of softs and six sets of supersofts.
The introduction of these new tyre rules has added an element of unpredictability to the sport – which has gone down well with fans.
