Reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton topped a busy dry final practice in Melbourne ahead of Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg.
After Friday’s damp conditions, final practice marked an opportunity for all of the teams to complete their first proper dry running in Melbourne this weekend.
Hamilton, Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel were separated by only two-tenths of a second.
Toro Rosso’s Carlos Sainz was impressive fourth, six-tenths off the pace set by Hamilton. Kimi Raikkonen was fifth ahead of Max Verstappen and Williams’ Valtteri Bottas.
Daniel Ricciardo, Felipe Massa and Sergio Perez rounded out the top 10 positions.
Final practice was encouraging for McLaren-Honda, finishing 11th and 12th on the timesheets.
Manor’s Rio Haryanto and Haas’ Romain Grosjean collided in the pit lane resulting in damage to both cars.
Haryanto was awarded a three-place grid penalty as a result.
