# ePrix Preview: Mexico City

Round five of the FIA Formula E championship heads to its first or two new locations this season, the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City, Mexico.

The season so far has been exciting, and has seen some brilliant performances. Sebastien Buemi for Renault e.Dams is currently top of the championship with 80 points, and is the quickest man in the quickest car.

Multiple mistakes throughout the season have cost Buemi, as while he is in first and has two ePrix wins to his name this season, Abt Schaeffler’s Lucas di Grassi is only four points behind, the Brazilian’s lowest finish this season being third.

The two drivers are out ahead of the pack. Sam Bird is third in the standings after a dominant performance in Buenos Aires last month, but he is already 28 points behind Buemi. The defending champion Nelson Piquet Jr is having a horrible time so far, his highest finish position being eighth in Putrajaya.

Other than the current top three drivers, only three others have made it onto the podium this season. Nick Heidfeld came home third in Beijing, and would be higher in the standings if he didn’t have to miss the Punta del Este race. Robin Frijns finished third with a broken suspension in Putrajaya, while Jerome D’Ambrosio took the last podium place in Uruguay.

No driver changes have been made from the last race in Buenos Aires, but this weekend is going to be a learning curve for everyone. Here are the details of the Mexico ePrix track.

**Track Name:** Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez

**Circuit Length:** 2.092 km *(1.3 miles)*

**Race Length:** 89.96 km *(55.9 miles)*

**Laps:** 43

The race will be the first on a permanent race course, one that saw the return of Formula 1 last year for the first time since 1992. The track is shorter than most of the other circuits, but should be a great event for everyone. Buemi will want to extend his championship lead, but he isn’t safe from di Grassi taking over after the race has concluded.
