2016 F1 Season Preview – Force India

2015 was a largely successful year for the Force India outfit, with the team securing their highest ever constructors’ championship finish in fifth.

Although they scored less points than the previous year, Vijay Mallya’s team finished a comfortable distance ahead of their nearest rivals, Lotus, and were only 51 points adrift of Red Bull.

It almost looked like it’d be all over before it started when the team were reported to be close to a financial collapse during pre-season testing last year.

However, they managed to make the first race using an updated 2014 car, and ran that spec up to the Austrian Grand Prix. It had been a steady start for the team, taking 31 points from their first eight rounds before moving onto the updated B-spec car at Silverstone.

The car was much improved and Sergio Perez even managed a podium at the Russian Grand Prix. Hulkenberg’s sixth place in Brazil was enough to ensure they’d finish the constructors’ championship in fifth overall in what was a remarkable achievement for a team so close to a financial breakdown.

In the slides below we take a look at how they got on in pre-season testing, the driver lineup, and predicting how their 2016 campaign will go.
