The Repsol Honda Team found themselves further down the timesheets after day one of testing in Qatar.
The two Spanish riders found themselves in 10th and 13th. Marquez’s fastest lap was just over one second slower than Jorge Lorenzo’s fastest time.
Both were slower than LCR Honda Team rider Cal Crutchlow who finished in 8th place – the only other Honda rider this season.
The riders claim they are taking a relaxed approach to the testing and have spoken about the various difficulties they have faced in Qatar thus far.
They finished 5th and 6th in the season opener of the 2015 Championship over seven seconds behind eventual race winner Valentino Rossi.

Marc Marquez said: “We knew before coming to Qatar that this circuit is one of the toughest on the calendar for us and this year we are finding things a bit tough on the kind of corners that you encounter here. We are far from where we’d like to be but the positive thing is that this is still only testing. Even though in Australia things went very well, here we have the opportunity to try many different things.”
