# Nato joins Racing Engineering for 2016 GP2 season

Racing Engineering have announced Norman Nato as their second driver alongside the returning Jordan King for the 2016 GP2 season.

Nato raced for Arden in 2015, scoring 20 points, with a best finish of sixth. On occasions, Nato showed outstanding pace but was unable to convert it into consistent points, he also got involved in too many incidents throughout the season but still was comfortably ahead of teammate Andre Negrao.

The 23-year old previously raced in Formula Renault 3.5 for DAMS, taking two victories and two pole positions from two years with the French outfit.

The Frenchman [said](https://www.gp2series.com/News-Room/News/2016/02_February/Racing-Engineering-confirm-Norman-Nato-for-2016-season/): “I am really pleased to join Racing Engineering this season for the GP2 Series championship. It is a very experienced team that has already won the GP2 championship twice.

Nato tested with the team back in Abu Dhabi and consistently found himself in the top half of the timesheets.

The team expects Nato to be ‘competitive’ from the first race of 2016 and challenge for podium finishes.

“We are very pleased to announce that Norman Nato has joined us for the 2016 season. After seeing the progression he made during last season, it was discussed that he would be ready to join our team. Now that it is a reality, we are all working hard to get ready for the first test of the season. We expect Norman to be competitive from the first race of the season since has the talent and the work ethic to step up on the podium from the beginning.”

The 2016 season kicks off in Barcelona, the destination for the first test of the season taking place between the 9th and 11th of March.
