Pirelli has announced its tyre compound choices for the opening races of the 2016 Formula One season.
Pirelli has chosen the super-soft, soft and medium tyres for the opening three rounds of the 2016 season which take place in Australia, Bahrain and China.
The soft and the medium have to be used during the race while a set of the super-soft tyres must be saved for the final segment of Saturday qualifying.
Drivers who have failed to make it into Q3 are allowed to save a set of super-soft tyres and use them during the race.
The new purple marked ‘ultra-soft’ tyre is likely to be introduced at the Russian Grand Prix in April.
Teams will have until December 24 to decide their tyre choices for the Bahrain Grand Prix.
