# Bird Looking For Another Positive Performance

Sam Bird has said that DS Virgin Racing needs to use their energy from the Putrajaya ePrix to come up with another great race result.

After finishing seventh in the opening race in Beijing, Bird was on the podium at end of the race in Putrajaya last month.

“After Malaysia the whole team was on a high, so we need to use that energy and channel it into another positive performance in Punta,” Bird says.

“We’re in a good place but there’s still a lot that we can improve on with the car too, which gives us plenty of optimism going into the weekend.”

The first Punta del Este ePrix was a disaster for Sam Bird, who was one of three drivers to retire from the race. His team-mate at Virgin Racing that year, Jaime Alguersuari, finished fifth.

“I didn’t have the best of times in Uruguay last year, but it’s a circuit that all of the drivers enjoy and so I’m hoping we can round off the year on a high.”

Bird currently is third in the drivers championship, while his team-mate Jean-Eric Vergne is still yet to score any points this season. Both will be looking for a strong performance this Saturday in Uruguay.
