Force India targeting Q3 in Brazilian GP qualifying

Force India deputy Team Principal Robert Fernley says Force India are aiming to get both cars into Q3 in qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Nico Hulkenberg ended both practice sessions inside the top 10 while Sergio Perez struggled in comparison to his teammate, finishing 15th and 11th.

Fernley says Force India’s Friday at Interlagos was trouble-free and their main focus was improving the cars balance in low-speed corners.

“Overall we’ve enjoyed a fairly routine day of Friday practice, which allowed us to work through most of the items on the job list. Interlagos is a fairly unique track in terms of its layout so we put our focus on the twisty second sector and making sure the cars work well through those low-speed corners.

“Both Nico and Checo explored some different set-up directions during the day but ended the afternoon session fairly content. I think we are in good shape heading into the weekend and will be targeting Q3 for both cars once again.”

Force India’s best result at the Brazilian Grand Prix game in 2012, where Nico Hulkenberg finished fifth.
