# Nextev Car Was “Impossible To Drive” For Turvey

Oliver Turvey had a bad day in the Nextev car, crashing out at turn five early into the race.

He described the car as “impossible to drive”, and not long after the race started he had to swap into the second car.

“I had a sticking throttle from the start that meant that when I lifted off the throttle the motor was still driving the car, so it was impossible to drive really. Then the car switched off in the hairpin on the first two laps so I was trying to manage and get round the laps to swap cars as soon as possible.”

The race didn’t get any better for the British driver. While he was one of the drivers to be given FanBoost during the race, he retired after going into the turn five barriers before it could be used.

“But then I came into turn 5, which is a tight corner, and it just drove me straight forwards into the wall unfortunately.”

Only Turvey and Jean-Eric Vergne officially retired from the unpredictable race. His team-mate Nelson Piquet Jr finished in eighth place.
