# Weighbridge call impacted Stevens’ qualifying

Manor Marussia driver Will Stevens says a call by the FIA to stop at the weighbridge meant he only had time to do one run in qualifying.

Stevens was once again out-qualified by teammate Alexander Rossi, who continues to perform solidly since joining the team at the Singapore Grand Prix in September.

Stevens will start 17th, benefitting from the penalties to Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso.

Stevens confirmed he had a throttle problem during his first run meaning he had to abandon his first laps in qualifying.

“I went out on my first run and the throttle was sticking, so I had to abort the run. On the way in I was called to the weighbridge, so I ended up only having one run.

Despite these problems, Stevens was happy to have been only a couple of tenths slower than teammate Rossi.

“The combination of the low grip track conditions and the fact that we haven’t had as much running as we would have liked here has put us on the back foot, so I’m actually quite happy to be as close as I am to Alex. It’s incredibly frustrating to be honest. That aside, I’m looking forward to the race tomorrow and a good battle with Alex.”
